2015 Outings and Workshops for BNIA Membership

by Molly Mulloy

People loved last summer's workshops and outings. This year we are thrilled that Tracy Pawis and Glen Caradus have agreed to return. There will also be a Botany - Ecology outing; a 'Make Your Own Bay-friendly Cleaners' workshop; Yoga on the Bay, a Georgian Bay Land Trust talk and tour; and The GB Biosphere Reserve's Kid's program, water information session and shoreline event. For the GB Biosphere Reserve Kid's program, please contact Anne Stewart. Leave a message at 705-366-2148 or email astewart.anne@gmail.com for a Kid's Kit to use throughout the summer. Check the GBBR website for more details.

Please feel free to contact Molly Mulloy with comments, feedback, and ideas for future events. Phone 613-967-7899 before mid-June, email molly.mulloy7@gmail.com or text me @ 613-827-2623.

All outings are family events. Bring along friends, neighbours, and visitors. Workshops have limited space, so sign up asap. All outings and workshops are led by experts in their fields who are volunteering their services, for which we are most grateful. Dress appropriately for the weather: sun, wind, drizzle. Bring water and snacks, or a lunch if the event is over the lunch hour. Storm and high wind dates will be the following day. Changes and updates will be posted on the BNIA Facebook page and the notice board 'Events' postersat local marinas.

Bay-Friendly Cleaners for Your Home,
Cottage and Boat
with Anne Stewart
When: Wednesday, July 22 @ 1 - 4 pm
Where: Cottage 583on the south side of the sailing bay in Nares Inlet
Save money & live healthier! Cleaning products often impact the health of us and the Bay, but they are also one of the easiest things to change. Cleaners can damage our ecology by adding toxins to the watershed. Learn how to assess products, read labels, find alternatives you can use, AND make your own cheaper and safer options. Feel free to bring labels, photos or containers of products you would like to know more about. We will make several less-toxic cleaners, and you can take samples (and recipes for them) home. Please bring : 1 small jar, 1 spray bottle, and one large jug with a cap (or pail with a lid). Used, clean, recycled containers are preferable.

Please RSVP Anne by text: 416-836-5509 or email her to reserve a space. Anne Stewart (CIPHI(C), BBEC) of Environmental Health Consulting Inc., specializes in improving the health of buildings and their occupants. Great improvements can be achieved by changing simple things in your space. Anne is a wealth of knowledge on how to make your home a healthier place to live. See www.annestewart.net for more information.
